What is the format?
★ Monthlong sessions including LIVE weekly Zoom classes with Melinda.
★ Demonstrations, Slide Shows and lively discussions take place each week.
★ Each Zoom will last approximately 2 hours.
★ New topics covered each session.
★ Student work can be shared in a private Facebook group where Melinda will give individual feedback throughout the month.
★ Zooms will be recorded and available for 60 days from the end of each session.

session one
Change your outlook on “backgrounds!”
The most common question I get is “How do I paint my background?” Join me and get creative with the “backgrounds” to your figurative work. I will present specific ideas to inspire your backgrounds (or negative spaces) and improve your compositions. It’s time to get excited about the WHOLE painting and embrace the design challenge!

Immerse yourself in COLOR!
Have you been confused about color? Do you have problems choosing colors? Are your paintings too dark or “muddy”? Do your colors sometimes feel disconnected or random? Join me while we spend a month looking at color! I will show you solutions to all of those challenges and more. Bring your questions and your “problem paintings” and we will create gorgeous color harmonies together!
SEssion Three
Are you ready for new inspiration to spark your work?
We will work with different subject matter—landscape, still life and figurative—to re-awaken your muse and push you towards more interpretive paintings. I will demonstrate how to use a photograph of any subject matter as a jumping off point and then interpret yourself in order to create looser, more abstracted paintings.
